Look, Ma! No Knitting...

I have to admit that I miss my needles. I have not picked them up since finishing that little Debbie Bliss baby sweater (that was given to the wonderful young lady who keeps my coloring my hair so many colors I can't remember what I started with originally). I did, however, purchase a scarf kit from Knit Picks so I hope to get going on that one of these days. My stash closet, while organized and pretty in the new basement craft room, is just sitting there waiting to be...

I'll just have to plan a poolside knitting project. Maybe I'll pick up my log cabin blanket WIP...it is cotton & mindless. Sounds perfect for the pool!

Oh, the places you'll go...

Knitting has eluded me for some time. I miss it but can't seem to get back in the rhythm of the stitches for now. Maybe it is the heat? I am working on a very tiny Debbie Bliss Cashmerino baby sweater but it is slow going. After this little project is complete, I hope to spend some quality time teaching myself to knit with the Continental method...just for kicks or sticks as the case may be!

I ran across a blog today talking about Perfectionism and it's crushing blow to one's creativity. Have to do some thinking about that for a while. It makes so much sense.

It is going to be a long summer.

Warm and Fuzzy...

What kind of yarn are you?

You are Mohair. You are a warm and fuzzy type who works well with others, doing your share without being too weighty. You can be stubborn and absolutely refuse to change your position once it is set, but that's okay since you are good at covering up your mistakes.
Take this quiz!

Let's Promenade

I purchased this gorgeous kit forever ago...has it been that long? Yes, too long! Now, as soon as I get my kitchen in gear for Thanksgiving, I am committing to this project 100%. First on the list of tasks is to go into the basement where all of my yarn is living in boxes (so sad, I know) and find this wool and needles......oh, and the pattern. This is the project I will take with me to the beach for Christmas. All I want for Christmas is some time at the beach, in front of a roaring fire, knitting to my heart's content...and ALL KNIT STITCHES (thank you, Hanne)!

Molly's first sweater

Molly is our new foster puppy...soon to be a permanent member of the family. She is a Japanese Chin/Terrier mix and we just love her. She was a shy, timid little girl when we brought her home from the shelter but has quickly come out of her shell and is now a goofy, fun little dog. She had a cast on one leg when we met her. The cast is off now and she is getting used to walking on that leg again. It has turned a bit colder in Atlanta so she needed something to keep her warm. I had all but given up on my knitting projects since there just isn't the same need for warm scarves and sweaters as we had in Chicago. Knitting this little ruffle sweater was just what I needed to catch the knitting bug again!

It's been a long, long time....

Just finished my first knitting project in over a year. The move south took the fun out of knitting all of those wonderful items created for their snuggle factor in Chicago winters. Thankfully, a new family member gave me the perfect reason to start moving those needles again! We are in the process of adopting a Japanese Chin/Terrier mix pup from a shelter. She is very sensitive to the cold so sweaters are just the ticket...even if it doesn't get all that cold in Atlanta. She will also be warm enough to keep up with me on the trail when we head out to go letterboxing! It's nice to be back!

Back to School...

My children went off to school again this week and you would think that I might have found some knitting time...unfortunately, that is not the case. However, I did find a new yarn source and a fun place to visit in Wheaton, IL. There is a fun little shop with antiques and gorgeous yarns just off of Main street and across the train tracks from Never Enough Knitting. I like this place much better than NEK. I also managed to find a great place for quilting and rug hooking in Naperville. Too many projects and not enough time. I am committed to getting photos of my finished objects this weekend. Right now, I am working on a scarf in Berrocco's Foliage (chinese lantern) and I am finishing a baby sweater. Fun stuff!
